"Final" Courtier Rules
Our friend the Courtier has had yet another rule overhaul. This latest round of changes came out of the final edits I am doing to the game. In this round of editing, I am simplifying and streamlining game rules as I prepare for release.
The Courtier was the very first archetype for Heliosail that I ever created, and it is also the one that has been through the most changes. While the core concept of the archetype has stayed the same, I have envisioned various different mechanics related to reputation over the course of the game's development.
This latest round of rules is not a total overhaul compared to the current version. Instead, it simply streamlines the idea and makes keeping track of it much simpler. This does mean that some nuance of the reputation system has been lost, but unfortunately I think it was a necessary sacrifice.
I am attaching the "final" Courtier rules to this post. They are final in the sense that no more hard mechanical changes to the archetype will happen from this point. I am hoping to add at least one more type of contact for the Address Book, and I may still make tweaks to some of the Tricks. The attached file also has some formatting issues that will be fixed prior to full release (missing page numbers, irregular margins, etc.)
